DAILY CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS

When you select UGI Central Penn Gas (Delivery Service Rate) for gas purchases, you must meet certain requirements before service can be initiated.

Installation of Electronic Metering and Telephone Line

• A terminal block and network interface device (NID) on a dedicated phone line is required. The line must be capable of direct inward dialing (dialed directly without going through a switchboard). This allows UGI Central Penn Gas to obtain meter readings and resolve most metering problems without
sending out a crew.
• Telephone line must be analog (just like the one in most homes). The phone line installation is the customer’s responsibility. Ask for a “standard dial tone — loop start residential line.” Metretek units can accommodate both touch-tone and rotary dial systems.
• You must specify any prefix access codes (i.e., 9, 8, etc.) and dial-tone delays when dialing out of your facility.
• Phone line wiring must be installed outdoors between 3 and 15 feet from the meter. The line CANNOT be anchored to the gas line, but must be held by some other external support.
The area between the phone line and the meter must be free of obstacles at all times for access. There must be free access to the meter and the phone line must be active for a UGI Central Penn Gas technician to install the telemetering equipment.
• Customers must provide a 24-hour fax number that UGI Central Penn Gas can use to send information regarding operation flow orders (OFO). UGI Central Penn Gas will not be responsible for penalties incurred if it is unable to notify a customer who does not have 24-hour access via fax machine. Maintenance of Phone Line
• You are responsible to maintain the phone line and service connected to the metering system.
• You must notify UGI Central Penn Gas upon discovery of any operational problems with the metering or phone systems. You must resolve phone line problems within 72 hours of notification by PPL when the source of the problem is not UGI Central Penn Gas equipment.
• Follow-up service calls by UGI Central Penn Gas to obtain daily usage figures because of phone line problems not related to UGI Central Penn Gas equipment are at the customer’s expense. There is a minimum charge of $150 per trip to the customer’s facility. UGI Central Penn Gas is not obligated to waive surcharges or make billing accommodations because of phone line failure. You must provide UGI Central Penn Gas the number of the dedicated phone line and the wiring must be installed before UGI Central Penn Gas will install the telemetering equipment.

If you have any questions regarding the installation of the phone line and metering equipment, please contact your account representative.
