FURNACE CARE TIPS
Heating and cooling your home can account for up to 50% of your total annual energy bill. With proper maintenance, your equipment uses less energy, lasts longer and is less likely to break down when you most need it.
- A gas furnace should be inspected annually by a qualified professional and thoroughly cleaned as necessary.
- Don't wait until the heating or cooling season to schedule routine maintenance. Discount pricing and greater scheduling flexibility may be available during off-peak seasons.
- Change or clean furnace and air conditioner filters monthly for most efficient operation.
- Remove dust and lint from warm-air registers, baseboard heaters and radiators.
- Keep outside vents clear of debris or blockages such as bird nests, spider webs or leaves. In the winter, clear ice and snow from vents to allow for proper air flow.
- Always read and follow the manufacturer's instruction manual when using your equipment.
