To keep up with an active family, you need to get the most out of the space in your home without sacrificing comfort. Perhaps you want to put a family room in the basement or create your own workshop area in the garage. Natural gas space heaters give you instant heat wherever you need it, for as long as you need it. Economics
Natural gas space heaters provide the comfort and economy that you expect from natural gas appliances. You can heat additional living space in your home for about one-third the cost of an electric space heater. Since many models are equipped with push-button ignition, you don’t have to heat a room that is not in use.
Efficiency
The efficiency of any heating system is measured in terms of its “Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency” (AFUE). The AFUE is a percentage and measures the ratio between the amount of energy that goes into a heating system versus the amount of energy that comes out as usable heat. The heat losses that can occur during start up and cool down, as well as the unit’s efficiency while it is operating, are all taken into account.Natural gas space heaters offer efficiency ratings as high as 99.9%. These high efficiency units are available in freestanding, wall-mounted or console models. Optional blowers can be added to distribute heat more evenly.
Cost Comparisons
When deciding which space heater is right for you and your budget, make sure you compare similar models. A unit that is equipped with an optional blower will cost more than a unit without a blower. You can also choose from a unit with an automatic thermostat or an infra red unit. An infra red unit produces radiant warmth which heats like the sun. The purchase price of a natural gas space heater could be slightly higher than that of a comparable electric space heater but the gas unit will save you money through lower energy costs.
