Safety Reminders for those without power:

  • If you know of elderly people who may need aide and who are without power, please contact our call center at (800) 276-2722.
  • If you depend on medical equipment for life-support, we recommend you purchase a back-up power supply or arrange to stay with family or friends. In a major outage, we may not be able to restore your power quickly enough to meet your priority needs.
  • If you are without power, please turn off all lights, turn off and unplug appliances, and make sure water faucets are turned off.  When power is restored, and you're home to ensure all appliances are operating propertly, you can power on / plug in appliances.

Background Information On Our Service Restoration Process

UGI uses a step-by-step process that is consistent with the electrical utility industry standards when a significant weather event causes severe damages to our electric system.

First, in advance of the severe weather incident, UGI convenes its Storm Response Team and begins to carefully prepare for the storm and its potential effects. While the storm is impacting the UGI service territory, UGI crews stand-down for safety reasons. Once it is safe to begin work, UGI crews are dispatched to areas affected by the event.

It is important to note that when the extent of storm damage to the electrical system is severe and widespread throughout our service area, company personnel cannot respond to every outage at once. For this reason, UGI prioritizes restoration activities. The safety of the public and the crews working to restore service are always a primary concern. Restoration efforts focus first on resolving dangerous situations such as downed power lines and addressing critical infrastructure such as emergency facilities and municipal services.
