I had a fuel oil furnace with a summer/winter hookup. In order to heat hot water in the summer, I had to maintain a heated boiler, causing a bigger oil bill. I switched to gas hot water and a demand water heater to fuel my baseboard water heating system. In the first year, I saved at least $500, and probably more. I have eliminated an underground tank, have saved on hot water over the entire year, and have a dependable heating system that saves me big money. I certainly endorse gas heating for both water and my residence.

I realized that my oil boiler was soon in need of being replaced and thought if I was going to replace it, I may as well check into converting to natural gas. The original thought was that it seems like a lot of work and maybe more than I would be willing to undertake. However, since my first contact with UGI, I could tell they were very interested in having me as a customer and in helping with the process. Getting connected to the main gas line was a process made very easy by UGI, as all permits and checking that were needed were all taken care of by UGI. The benefits of switching to natural gas were clearly stated and basically the only thing I needed to do was to give my approval. The day the crew came by to hook up the gas line to my house made me very pleased with my decision. The crew was very professional. They made it a point to make as little disruption to my landscaping as possible and certainly succeeded in that area as only a few small patches of grass were disturbed. The crew was very good about answering questions and was very pleasant to deal with.

As for the installation of the gas boiler by Maitz Home Services, they too were very good in taking care of all of the details for me. My first meeting with George to get an estimate was very positive and they did end up offering me the best price and an excellent quality system choice in the Triangle Tube boiler with the domestic hot water system built right in. George and the rest of the Maitz staff were extremely helpful in helping me to make the decision to convert to natural gas as they too stated the many benefits of converting. The installation crew from Maitz was also very professional and did a great job on an obviously very labor intensive installation. Everyone was very positive and knowledgeable and very friendly. They were a pleasure to be around.

Now that the process is complete and I am now running on natural gas, I am very pleased. The thought of not having to deal with oil anymore and worrying about which company I can trust, do I have enough oil in the tank to last the weekend, what price is oil going to be this month and so on is a great feeling. Already I can see the benefits of the domestic hot water supplied by the new gas boiler in that the shower is an even constant temperature all the way through as opposed to the temperature fluctuations with the old oil boiler. I am looking forward to this heating season for the first time ever in anticipation of the savings I will achieve with my new natural gas boiler.

Recently my hot water heater went out and when it did I made the decision to move on to a gas hot water heater for the simple fact I already had gas at my house. I love how fast it heats the water and we are never without hot water. Highly recommended!

We recently finished building our home and supplied it initially with electric hot water. Once the rate caps were lifted, heating our hot water with natural gas became a far more economical decision. The savings were such that we will recoup the costs of purchasing and refitting our  home within a short period of time and continue to enjoy cost savings for years to come. We couldn't be happier with the switch.

There are several reasons why I switched from an electric hot water heater to a gas hot water heater. The water heater I had was over 12 years old. I knew its life was questionable. Knowing that the electric rates are going up for me in January 2011 and with the rebate program UGI was providing it was enough to prompt me to make the change now. The rebate helped to pay for the installation and through calculations I figured the change would pay for itself in the end. I really like the new gas hot water heater. I do not "loose: hot water as I had done before. and therefore don't have to wait for the hot water to recharge. My gas bills have been very reasonable with actually very little noticeable change! My electric I believe will be lower but it is hard to tell right now since my a/c is electric and we have had such hot weather!
