Locator Safety Awareness Week 2019
24 Apr 2019
April 22-28, 2019
Established in 2014 by Infrastructure Resources, Locator Safety Awareness Week addresses the importance of keeping our locators safe while on the job and celebrates the important role they play in keeping our utility lines free from damages.
LSAW also provides an opportunity to remind the everyone of the hazards locators face while on the job and what we can do to help keep them safe.
Top 10 Locator Safety Hazards
- Confined spaces
- Threats to the eye
- Climate and weather
- Dog bites
- Punctures and foot trauma
- Poison ivy and other skin threats
- Insect bites and stings
- Walking, lifting, bending and squatting
- Slips, trips and falls
- Time on the road
While some of these hazards are sometimes unavoidable on the job, you can do your part to keep locators safe as they work to protect our underground infrastructure by always moving over the furthest lane from where locating is being performed or if you are unable to move your vehicle, slow down as you would in an active work zone.
Digging, landscaping, or gardening?
Are you ready to have your utility lines marked? Call 8-1-1 at least three (3) business days before you dig or excavate on your property to have your utility lines marked. This FREE call could save you thousands in damages to your utility lines. Learn more about preventing damages.
