Beard Named UGI Utilities President, CEO

Reading, PA (September 9, 2011) – UGI Corporation (NYSE: UGI) announced that Robert F. Beard has been named president and chief executive officer of UGI Utilities, Inc.
Mr. Beard, 45, succeeds John L. Walsh, who has resumed his duties full-time as President and Chief Operating Officer of UGI Corporation, based in Valley Forge.
Mr. Beard will assume responsibility for all aspects of the UGI Gas and Electric Division operations, as well as Utilities Finance, Human Resources and Public Affairs functions. He has more than 20 years of experience in the natural gas utility industry and, most recently, served as Vice President of Marketing, Rates and Gas Supply.
“I am confident that Bob will continue the tradition of excellent leadership for UGI Utilities,’’ Mr. Walsh said. “We look forward to our utility business building on its track record of strong performance.’’
Mr. Beard joined UGI Utilities in October 2008 in connection with the Company’s acquisition of PPL Gas Utilities Corporation. With both UGI and PPL, he has held various positions of increasing responsibility in operations, marketing and engineering.
Mr. Beard graduated from Penn State University with both a Bachelors of Science degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering and a Masters of Management degree. He is also a registered professional engineer.
He and his wife, Laura, reside in Lancaster County with their two children.
