As a result of localized flooding in areas of the UGI Williamsport Operations Area including the boroughs of Montgomery, Montoursville, Muncy, Duboistown and South Williamsport, as well as Lycoming, Old Lycoming, Loyalsock, Muncy, Muncy Creek, Fairfield and Clinton Townships, UGI – Penn Natural Gas is recommending that natural gas customers whose equipment is or was submerged by water have their equipment checked as soon as possible.
Submerged gas meters or regulators must be turned off and inspected by qualified utility personnel before service can be restored. If you have experienced flooding and your equipment was submerged, please contact UGI immediately at 1-800-228-1110.
When the water has completely receded and all standing water, mud and debris in the basement has been pumped out, please call UGI at 1-800-432-8017 to restore gas service. Under no circumstances should a customer attempt to turn the gas back on themselves. UGI personnel will restore each individual gas service when it is safe to do so and relight the pilots to functioning equipment and appliances as necessary.
If your natural gas water heater, house heater or other gas appliance has been submerged, most manufacturers recommend you have the appliance inspected and possibly replaced. Please call UGI or another qualified plumbing and heating contractor for service.
