Bloomsburg, PA (September 9, 2011) – UGI Utilities, Inc., crews are prepared to begin repairs to a gas line – serving 177 Penn Natural Gas customers – severed Thursday when flood waters and erosion washed away a telephone pole.
UGI, however, will not be able to start the work until flood waters recede to a safe level, probably in the next day or two. The severed line serves customers in the Buckhorn and Fernville areas, as well as the Columbia Mall commercial district.
Because of the extensive damage to the line, located near a bridge between Bloomsburg and Fernville, it is expected to take several days to make repairs and restore gas service to customers.
UGI thanks customers for their patience and will continue to keep them informed of developments.
