STATEMENT OF UGI UTILITIES REGARDING A “PHISHING” SCAM THAT RESULTED IN THE COMPROMISE OF EMPLOYEE INFORMATION

Reading, PA – On January 24, 2017, UGI Utilities was the target of an email-based scam. The perpetrators of the scam acquired personal information about UGI Utilities’ current and former employees who worked at the company during 2016. This affected approximately 1,900 individuals. The company is notifying all individuals who may have been affected by the event.
UGI Utilities’ customer information systems were not breached, and no customer information was compromised.
UGI Utilities representatives immediately contacted appropriate law enforcement agencies when the incident was identified and are working collaboratively with them.
UGI Utilities is taking steps to provide information and resources to assist our current and former employees in addressing this situation.
