UGI Announces Blakely Infrastructure Project

UGI Utilities, Inc. will begin a natural gas main replacement project on Gino Merli Drive in the borough of Blakely in Lackawanna County on Monday, May 2, 2022.

The natural gas main replacement project will begin at Hilltop Road and proceed southwest toward Peckville. Construction will end at Hospital Street. The project will also include infrastructure replacement on a section of Wildcat Road at the intersection of Gino Merli Drive.

Approximately 6,000 feet of non-contemporary main will be replaced. This project will also renew gas service lines to approximately 50 customers.

Construction hours will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. During construction hours, residents will experience detours and traffic delays. The roadway will be reduced to one lane in the construction area during work hours. Parking also will be restricted on those blocks during construction hours. The project is expected to be completed by mid-July.
