UGI Utilities, Inc. has begun a natural gas main replacement project in the borough of Coudersport. This project is part of the Company’s multi-year infrastructure betterment initiative.
The natural gas main replacement project will take place on State Road 6, also known as East Second Street, from the Morgan AM&T plant to State Road 44 in Sweden Valley. As part of this project, the road will be restricted to one lane for through traffic weekdays from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. with flaggers directing traffic.
Residents will experience temporary parking restrictions, traffic pattern changes and equipment parked on the street.
This project will replace 8,500 feet of gas main and renew gas service lines to approximately 40 homes and businesses. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
UGI will work to restore areas affected by the construction to their original condition.
“UGI recognizes area residents will be inconvenienced during this project. We will work to complete construction in a timely manner,” Robert P. Krieger, vice president of operations, said. “This project is part of UGI’s continuing commitment to provide safe and reliable natural gas service to our customers and our communities. We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we make this long-term system improvement. We also thank officials from Coudersport for their cooperation and assistance in the planning and execution of this project.”
