UGI Utilities, Inc. will begin a natural gas main relocation project in the Borough of Northumberland, Northumberland County. The scheduled start date for the work is Monday, April 10.
The project is necessary to accommodate the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s plans for reconstruction of Duke Street between Depot Alley and Eighth Streets.
UGI will be relocating its facilities to the eastern tree space and sidewalk area of Duke Street. As part of the project, UGI will replace the main, renew all service lines, and relocate meters.
The project is expected to last approximately four months. Natural gas main construction is scheduled to be performed from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, weather permitting.
Residents and drivers traveling in area should consider alternate routes if possible. While two lanes of traffic will be open at most times during construction, the work may cause traffic delays. Motorists driving through the construction zone are urged to watch for roadwork signs, and to follow the directions of flag personnel.
UGI is a natural gas and electric utility company that serves approximately 690,000 customers. Additional information about UGI Utilities is available at www.ugi.com. Follow us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/ugiutilities or Twitter: www.twitter.com/ugi_utilities.
