Reading, PA (August 27, 2010) – Peter G. Terranova and Robert F. Beard have been promoted to vice president positions within two subsidiaries of UGI Corporation.
Terranova, 57, of Reamstown, Lancaster County, has assumed the post of Vice President – Midstream Assets and Services – UGI Energy Services, Inc., the Corporation’s energy-marketing subsidiary. He will be responsible for the further development of UGI’s midstream business.
Beard, 44, of Quarryville, Lancaster County, has been promoted to Vice President – Marketing, Rates and Gas Supply – UGI Utilities Inc., the Corporation’s natural gas and electric utility operation. Beard replaces Terranova in that position and will oversee the company’s activities in the areas of sales, marketing, gas supply and rates.
John Walsh, Utilities’ President and CEO, said: “Peter has played a critical role in the development of our Utilities business over the past 24 years and will be taking on a major new role in Energy Services.’’
Brad Hall, President of UGI Energy Services, added: “Midstream assets will play a significant role in our growth strategy at Energy Services. Midstream assets currently include natural gas storage fields, our peaking assets – including our expanded Liquefied Natural Gas plant and our recently announced partnership with NiSource to build a 120-mile pipeline – primarily in Pennsylvania and a small segment of New York State – that will enable Marcellus Shale producers to access local and interstate customers. Bringing on a talented and experienced executive like Peter to our senior management team demonstrates how seriously we view this new role at Energy Services.’’
Since joining UGI in 1986, Terranova has led various departments including Operations, Energy Supply, Marketing and Rates. He is a member of the Leadership Committee of the American Gas Association, and has a law degree from the State University of New York and a Certificate of Business Excellence from the Columbia University Management School of Business.
In announcing Beard’s promotion, Walsh said: “Bob has made a significant contribution to our success since joining us as part of the PPL Gas acquisition in late 2008. I look forward to working
closely with Bob as he takes on this critical new range of responsibilities.’’
Beard has more than 20 years of experience in the natural gas industry. Prior to the acquisition by UGI, he served as Vice President – Engineering and Operations of PPL Gas Utilities Corporation. His most recent assignment was Vice President of UGI Utilities’ Southern Region, which encompasses Harrisburg, Lancaster, Allentown, Reading, Pottsville, Stroudsburg and surrounding areas.
Beard holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, as well as a Masters degree of Management, both from Penn State University. He is also a registered professional engineer.
