Reading, PA – UGI Utilities, Inc. congratulated Mohegan Sun Pocono at the ribbon cutting for its new Combined Heat and Power (CHP) power plant that provides both electricity and heat for the complex. UGI serves Mohegan Sun Pocono with natural gas that fuels the plant.
CHP integrates the production of usable heat and electricity in one single, highly efficient process. CHP systems use natural gas to generate electricity while capturing the heat created by that process for use in facilities.
“UGI has worked cooperatively with Mohegan Sun Pocono to help make this project a reality,” Robert Stoyko, vice president of customer relations, said. “We applaud Mohegan Sun Pocono for making this significant investment in their facility, and thank them for choosing UGI Utilities as its natural gas provider.”
“Pennsylvania’s Marcellus Shale range has provided consumers in the Commonwealth with a plentiful, reasonably-priced supply of natural gas,” Stoyko added. “We believe the decision to use clean and economical natural gas is a ‘win’ for Mohegan Sun Pocono, UGI, and for the residents of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.”
UGI Utilities has headquarters in Reading, Pennsylvania and serves more than 690,000 customers in 45 Pennsylvania counties and one county in Maryland.
