Reading, PA – UGI Utilities, Inc. President and CEO Robert F. Beard congratulated representatives of Panda Patriot Electric Generating Station at the groundbreaking of its new natural gas-fired electric generation plant located in Clinton Township, Lycoming County, PA. UGI is preparing to construct an eight-mile natural gas line to service the new station.
“UGI continues to work closely with Panda Patriot to make this project a reality,” said Beard. “We applaud Panda Patriot for making this significant investment in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and thank them for choosing UGI Utilities as their partner to supply fuel to this facility.”
Construction of the UGI pipeline that will supply the Panda Patriot generating station is expected to begin in the near future. The anticipated completion date of the line is the first half of 2015. UGI will install a 12 inch coated steel high-pressure pipeline to serve the Panda Patriot station.
“Production from Pennsylvania’s Marcellus Shale has provided consumers in the Commonwealth with a plentiful, stable supply of natural gas,” Beard added. “We believe the decision to use clean and economical natural gas is a ‘win’ for Panda Patriot, UGI, the residents of this community, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.”
