UGI Continues Restoration Process for Customers in Wilkes-Barre Affected by Natural Gas Outage
19 Dec 2015
UGI is continuing the restoration process for customers in the Wilkes-Barre area impacted by a natural gas service outage.
The outage affects approximately 125 customers in the area of Griffith Lane, Airy Street, Harkins Lane, Lloyds Lane and Stanton Street.
UGI is sorry for any inconvenience caused by this outage, and thanks all affected customers for their patience and understanding.
UGI will work steadily throughout the day to re-introduce natural gas to its system. At the same time, UGI continues to inspect and assess the fuel lines and equipment in individual homes to ensure their safe operation. UGI will repair or replace any damaged customer-owned gas appliances or equipment as may be necessary that were impacted by this incident.
After all assessments are completed, UGI will begin to restore service to the area. UGI expects this to be a multi-day effort.
UGI reminds customers that under no circumstances should they attempt to turn their natural gas service back on their own.
Customers who cannot be home and need to communicate special access instructions to UGI, are asked to call UGI’s Contact Center at 1-800-276-2722 or visit the Command Center at the South Fire Station, 313 High Street.
Customers are reminded that if they smell gas they should immediately leave the building and call UGI at 1-800-276-2722 from a safe location.
