UGI CPG to Decrease Natural Gas Rates 10.7% on December 1, 2010

Reading, PA (November 30, 2010) – UGI Central Penn Gas announced today that its purchased gas cost rates will decrease on December 1, 2010 due to lower wholesale natural gas costs. As a result, the average residential heating customer’s bill will decrease by approximately 10.7 percent, from $92.92 to $83.01 per month.

This is the second consecutive year that UGI Central Penn Gas customers will see their natural gas costs decrease. Since June 2008, UGI Central Penn Gas customers have seen their bills reduced by more than 35 percent.

Utilities are required to pass along the cost of natural gas directly to customers, and are not allowed to make a profit on the commodity.

According to Robert F. Beard, Vice President Marketing, Supply & Rates, “UGI is pleased to pass these savings on to our customers as we enter the winter heating season, and we will continue to work hard to provide our customers with exceptional value and service.” In addition, Beard stated “We encourage our customers to help further reduce their bills by being mindful of measures they can take to conserve  energy.”

Customers with a limited or fixed income are encouraged to call UGI at 1-800-UGIWARM (844-276) to determine if they are eligible for one of several energy assistance programs. In addition, any customer who is behind on their gas bill should contact UGI as soon as possible to discuss a payment arrangement.
