UGI Electric Donating Personal Care Products to Children’s Organizations

(April 19, 2010) – UGI Utilities, Inc., in conjunction with National Volunteer Week – which begins today – is supplying personal care items for local children’s organizations in the Wilkes-Barre, Scranton and Williamsport areas.

Through employee donations, underprivileged children will receive goods including soap, shampoo, body lotion, deodorant and hand lotion.

In the Wilkes-Barre, Williamsport and Scranton areas, items will be delivered to Volunteers of America, 400 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre; the Teenage Mothers Program of the Scranton School District; and Wise Options, 815 W. Fourth St., Williamsport.

“There are many underprivileged children in our communities,’’ said John Walsh, President and CEO – UGI Utilities, Inc. “Many are unable to obtain some basic items to maintain a healthy and productive life. Through our Personal Care Drive, we hope to meet some of their needs.’’

The personal care drive is one of many volunteer initiatives by UGI employees throughout the year. During National Volunteer Week, UGI recognizes employees who are involved in community and education activities during the previous year.

In 2009, 460 of UGI’s 1,413 employees (nearly 33 percent) devoted 40,714 hours to community and education volunteer service. These efforts include UGI’s signature partnership with the Reading Is Fundamental (RIF™) children’s literacy organization, as well as its strong support of hundreds of organizations including the United Way, the American Cancer Society, Easter Seal Society and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. During National Volunteer Week 2010, UGI Penn Natural Gas and Electric

Division employees will be volunteering at soup kitchens in Wilkes-Barre, Scranton and Williamsport. In addition, UGI Penn Natural Gas employees will participate in RIF book distributions Wednesday, April 21, and Thursday, April 22, respectively, at 1 p.m. at the Frances Willard
Elementary School, 100 Eynon Street, and the John Marshall Elementary School, 1415 Oram Street, in the Scranton School District.

UGI is a natural gas and electric utility that serves more than 625,000 customers in 45 Pennsylvania counties.
