UGI Electric Invites Customers to Try a Compact Flourescent Bulb for Free at Upcoming Events
25 Oct 2012
Customers can learn more about more energy-efficient lighting options and special CFL discounts offered by UGI
Wilkes-Barre, PA – During the winter months when lights are on longer, lighting can account for up to 12 percent of a household’s electric bill. To help customers reduce lighting-related expenses, UGI Utilities – Electric Division has created a partnership with area retailers to offer instant discounts on the retail price of ENERGY STAR® qualified compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs).
CFL bulbs come in a variety of types and models. CFLs use up to 75 percent less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs, and can save about $40 over the lifetime of each bulb.
Customers are invited to special retail lighting events this fall to receive advice about lighting options for their home. UGI lighting experts will be at the stores listed below to provide assistance. Those customers who stop by will receive one FREE CFL twist bulb at the following dates and locations:
- Saturday, October 27 – 10:00 a.m. to Noon – Lowe’s, 50 West Side Mall, Edwardsville
- Tuesday, November 6 – 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Luzerne Lumber, 445 Main St, Luzerne
UGI’s “Bright Savings” program makes these energy-efficient light bulbs more cost-effective by reducing their price at participating local retailers every day.
Most homes have an average of 40 light sockets, and there’s a CFL to fit almost every socket. Customers can save the most energy and money by replacing bulbs in their five highest-use fixtures (those fixtures that are on three hours or more each day). Typically this includes the kitchen ceiling light, living room table lamps, bathroom vanity and outdoor porch and lamp post.
