Wilkes-Barre, PA (November 1, 2012 – 1:15 p.m.) – UGI – Electric Division has restored service to customers who experienced storm-related outages following Hurricane Sandy. At the height of the outage on Tuesday morning, Oct. 30, more than 17,492 were without electric service.
At this time, UGI is standing down its Electric Division Hurricane Sandy response team. UGI – Electric Division has returned to normal operations. UGI thanks its customers for their patience as crews restored power in communities affected by this historic storm. Earlier today, UGI released the crews from Westar Energy, who will now assist other utilities with their restoration efforts. UGI thanks the skilled and dedicated Westar crews for their outstanding work in restoring service to affected UGI customers.
UGI crews will continue to manage spot service outages. UGI asks any customers who are without power and do not have a UGI – Electric Division crew working at their location to immediately call 800-276-2722.
If you are a residential customer with special needs and have an emergency, please contact your regional 911 center. Special needs customers calling UGI to report an outage should identify themselves as such to the customer service representative. UGI can provide information to assist you in connecting to your local 911 center.
Safety is a priority at UGI. We remind customers and community members to always avoid downed power lines and stay away from any electrical equipment that is partially or totally submerged in water.
