More than three dozen UGI natural gas employees responded to a request for assistance from Columbia Gas of Massachusetts and supported residents as they returned to their homes following an incident in the Merrimack Valley north of Boston.
UGI’s team of field technicians, supervisors and incident command support staff arrived in the area on Saturday. On Sunday, UGI employees were dispatched in two-person teams in a public safety role, assisting affected residents return to their homes.
UGI crews remain on the scene, assisting with service restoration where possible and continuing to conduct safety checks.
“A number of UGI employees volunteered to be part of the UGI team dedicated to the restoration effort in Massachusetts,” Hans Bell, UGI Chief Operating Officer, said. “When disaster strikes, utilities have a long history of helping each other. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this incident.”
