Due to equipment failure in the Mount Joy area of Lancaster County, approximately 200 customers have experienced a disruption in their natural gas service. UGI has resolved the equipment issue and is working as quickly as possible to restore service.
UGI natural gas service customers in the Mount Joy area who are affected by this outage do not need to call UGI to report an outage. However, customers who smell gas should immediately call UGI at 1-800-276-2722.
In order to complete repairs and restore service to the area, UGI needs to turn off natural gas service in any customer’s property that has its natural gas meter located inside the building. In cases where there is an outdoor meter or service valve, UGI will shut off natural gas at that point.
Customers who are in their homes when Company field crews arrive will assist UGI more quickly restoring service. If UGI needs to enter a home to shut off natural gas and the homeowner is not present, UGI personnel are being assisted by fire, police and other emergency personnel.
Once natural gas service is restored, UGI will visit all homes affected to turn on natural gas service and re-light appliances. Under no circumstances should a customer attempt to turn their natural gas service back on their own. UGI expects to work through the afternoon and evening hours to restore natural gas service to all affected customers. Customers can call UGI at 1-800-276-2722 for additional information and restoration of natural gas service to their property.
