UGI Named “Most Trusted Brand” in National Residential Customer Survey

30 Jun 2021

UGI Utilities, Inc. was among 38 utility companies nationwide that received the “Most Trusted Brand” status in the recent 2021 Cogent Syndicated Utility Trusted Brand & Customer Engagement™: Residential report from Escalent, a leading human behavior and analytics firm.

This is the fourth consecutive year that UGI has earned the “Most Trusted Brand” status. The study noted that customer trust in utility companies hit a historic high score this year due to the industry’s effective response to the COVID-19 pandemic and environmental stewardship efforts.

The Brand Trust Index is a composite score of utility performance on customer focus, community support, communications effectiveness, reliable quality, environmental dedication, and company reputation.

“Starting active conversations with customers on how their utility can partner with and support them throughout the challenges faced this past year has strongly positioned utilities as trusted energy advisers and great corporate citizens,” said Chris Oberle, senior vice president at Escalent. “Our research shows that nearly all utilities provide great service levels, but an elite group has been able to build trusted brands that empower customers with valuable offerings and value-added information. The most trusted utility brands include utilities that are making a positive impact on their customers, communities and financials.”

“UGI is very pleased to be among the 2021 Most Trusted Brands,” Hans Bell, President of UGI Utilities, Inc., said. “Throughout the pandemic, UGI has worked closely with customers who have suffered hardship. In addition, the Company and its employees supported community organizations who provided critical services.”

“In addition,” Bell said, “UGI has made a corporate commitment to significantly reduce direct carbon emissions over the next five years and is making strategic investments to bring Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) into our supply portfolio.”
