UGI Names Electric Division Vice President/General Manager

Robert F. Beard, President and CEO of UGI Utilities, has announced the appointment of Eric Sorber to the new position of Vice President and General Manager of UGI Utilities – Electric Division.
In his position, Sorber will lead the Electric Division’s 69-person organization serving approximately 62,000 customers in Luzerne and Wyoming Counties. As part of his responsibilities, Sorber will lead strategic initiatives including enhancing the Division’s safety and training programs, planning and implementing capital expenditures, accelerating ongoing system reliability enhancements, and managing the state and federal regulatory oversight of the Electric Division’s activities.
Sorber joined UGI in 1992 as an engineer. During his career with UGI’s Electric Division, Sorber has held various roles of increasing responsibility including Senior Manager – System Planning & Operations and Director – Engineering and Operations since 2015.
Sorber’s experience includes successfully managing a wide range of challenges such as safety leadership, labor contract negotiations, development and implementation of the Electric Division’s long-term infrastructure plan, regulatory compliance, and crisis management associated with service restoration activities.
Sorber holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University. In 2018, he completed a financial management executive development program at the University of Virginia. He and his family live in Hunlock Creek.
