UGI to Continue Northumberland Borough Infrastructure Project During Evening Hours
25 May 2018
A natural gas main replacement project in the borough of Northumberland will transition from daylight hour construction to evening construction beginning Tuesday, May 29.
Work will begin at 8:00 p.m. and finish by 6:00 a.m. each week day. There is no Saturday and Sunday construction currently scheduled.
This project, which started the week of April 30, is part of the Company’s multi-year infrastructure betterment initiative and is being completed ahead of a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation road reconstruction project scheduled for the area.
Evening work will take place on the following streets:
- King Street, between Water Street and Priestley Avenue.
- Water Street beginning at King Street and working toward Queen Street.
Local residents and commuters driving through the area are advised that this project may involve traffic delays, traffic pattern changes, temporary parking restrictions and/or equipment parked on the street. Drivers should consider alternate routes during construction hours.
UGI will notify customers before any interruption of gas service and will re light appliances when gas service is restored. The Company will work to restore areas affected by construction to their original condition following completion of the project.
The project is expected to last through July. UGI is a natural gas and electric utility company that serves 700,000 customers.
