UGI Penn Natural Gas to Begin Infrastructure Project in Lycoming County

28 Aug 2014

READING, PA, August 28, 2014 – UGI Penn Natural Gas will begin a natural gas pipeline construction project the week of September 1 that will require the temporary closure of a 2.5 mile segment of Quaker Church Road in Lycoming County for approximately three months.

This project will install an eight-mile natural gas pipeline to serve the new Panda Patriot Electric Generating Station in Clinton Township.

The affected section of Quaker Church Road begins at 2361 Quaker Church Road and extends to Village Road in Muncy Township. The project will also impact the following cross street streets on Quaker Church Road: Bugbee Road, Weiser Woods Road, Griggs Road and Carpenters Lane.

In addition, construction will proceed along the following roads: Village Road, Pond Road, Drick Road, Yetter Road, Armstrong Road and Bastian Road. While motorists may expect traffic delays during construction hours, these roads will remain open. Natural gas main construction will generally be performed from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Construction for the entire project is expected to take approximately four to five months. Local residents have been advised of the construction and have been encouraged to identify alternate routes when necessary.

“UGI recognizes that some residents will be inconvenienced during this project and will work to complete construction in a timely manner,” Robert P. Krieger, vice president of operations, said. “This project is part of UGI’s continuing commitment to provide safe and reliable natural gas service to our customers and our communities and we appreciate our customers’ and the community’s understanding as we make these long-term system improvements. We also thank Muncy and Clinton Townships for their cooperation and assistance in planning and executing these efforts.”
