UGI Utilities, Inc. will begin a natural gas main relocation project in the borough of Dunmore, Lackawanna County beginning Monday, May 8. UGI is relocating its mains in advance of a planned sewer main replacement project in the community.
The natural gas main relocation project will take place on the 100 block of Cherry Street, between Wheeler Avenue and S. Blakely Street. Construction is expected to take up to two weeks. UGI crews will work between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday until the main relocation project is complete.
Local residents and motorists driving through the area should be aware that traffic will be restricted to a single lane on Cherry Street during construction hours. Cherry Street will be fully re-opened at the end of each day’s work, as well as on any weekend days during construction. Drivers traveling in area during work hours should consider alternate routes, watch for roadwork caution signs, and follow the directions of flag personnel.
