UGI to Restrict Traffic in Wilkes-Barre Township for Infrastructure Project
02 Oct 2017
UGI Utilities, Inc. will restrict traffic on sections of Wilkes-Barre Township Boulevard and intersecting side streets for an infrastructure replacement project beginning October 5 and lasting through the end of December 2017.
The temporary traffic restrictions will allow UGI to upgrade its high pressure steel main on Wilkes-Barre Township Boulevard.
Traffic restrictions on Wilkes-Barre Boulevard will be in effect from Pine Street across from the Home Depot to the Northampton Street exit ramp just south of the Sheetz convenience store. Intersecting side streets affected by this project include Coal Street, Highland Boulevard, Scott Street, Spring Street, and Mundy Street.
One southbound travel lane will be closed daily during the construction project.
Appropriate traffic control measures will be in place to maintain northbound and southbound travel. UGI will ensure entry and exit access to local businesses along Wilkes Barre Township Boulevard. Road restrictions will occur between approximately 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day. Drivers are urged to consider alternate routes during construction hours.
The construction is part of a UGI facility improvement project that helps to ensure the safe and reliable supply of natural gas to the area. UGI restores roadways at the conclusion of its projects as weather permits.
UGI thanks residents in advance for your patience and cooperation. Should a resident have any questions, please contact the UGI at (800)276-2722.
