UGI Upgrading Natural Gas Pipeline in Three Northeast Pennsylvania Counties
18 May 2017
UGI Utilities, Inc. has commenced a project that will upgrade a natural gas pipeline located in Northeast Pennsylvania. Construction will take place from Union Dale to Carbondale and will encompass 11 miles in Susquehanna, Lackawanna and Wayne Counties. UGI’s work will increase system capacity to accommodate future growth in the region.
As a result of the project, several sections of the D&H Rail-Trail and the O&W Rail-Trail have been temporarily closed as a safety precaution. Additional sections of the Rail-Trails will be temporarily closed as construction proceeds throughout the summer and early fall. The project is expected to be completed by October 2017.
As part of its work, UGI will complete a number of enhancements on the Rail-Trails, including beautification efforts and improved drainage.
