18 Apr 2012
Reading, PA (April 18, 2012) – UGI Utilities announced plans today for several major infrastructure improvements projects in 2012 throughout its service areas.
“UGI Utilities is always looking for ways to continue our commitment to safety, and to ensure reliable and efficient natural gas service for our customers,” said Robert F. Beard, President and CEO of UGI Utilities, Inc.
These 2012 infrastructure improvement projects, many of which focus on upgrading bare steel and cast iron pipe to high-density plastic, include the following in the Harrisburg and Lancaster areas:
- Harrisburg Mid-town
- Main Replacement: 8,700 feet
- East & West Orange St., Lancaster City
- Main Replacement: 7,850 feet
- New Holland Avenue, Lancaster City
- Main Replacement: 3,350 feet
Some of these projects, which are scheduled at various times throughout the year, will involve a temporary disruption in natural gas service, at which time UGI will contact customers to inform them of potential shut-off and restoration times.
In addition, UGI will work with municipalities to mitigate any potential disruption in traffic due to road closures and/or detours caused by these projects.
“We truly appreciate the patience of our customers, local residents and business owners as we continue to aggressively work to complete these projects and improve our natural gas delivery system in your communities in 2012,” said Beard.
