UGI employees in the greater Wilkes-Barre area were “all in” during the recent Christmas in July Drive for Feeding and Reading organized by the United Way of Wyoming Valley. Company employees have participated in this venture over the past two decades, and the initiative always generates excitement and significant participation.
Employees collected 737 pounds of food during the drive. The collected items filled two UGI vehicles, which were used to transport the items to the Commission on Economic Opportunity’s Weinberg Food Bank, Pittston. The donated food will feed more than 600 people in need.
In addition, nearly $200 in cash donations will support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which provides free books to children from birth through age five who reside in the Wyoming Valley. The library will be able to purchase approximately 80 books with the donation.
