UGI is committed to building and maintaining the safest, most reliable gas system that our customers can depend on for many decades to come.
As part of this commitment UGI is replacing aging natural gas pipelines through an accelerated main replacement program. As of October 2026, UGI has invested more than $1.5 billion in this program.
This included the retirement and replacement of over 400 miles of cast-iron pipelines, which UGI finished in May 2026. This goal was completed nearly a year ahead of the February 2027 commitment and is one of the largest modernization efforts in the company’s 144 year history.
The work isn’t done. The plan is to replace all bare steel mains by 2041 and to continue to invest in a safe, reliable and affordable energy system.
UGI understands construction can be a disruption when it’s going on in your neighborhood. UGI will continue to keep you informed about gas pipeline safety, infrastructure projects and important safety resources. View frequently asked questions on infrastructure.
