Powering the Future
Natural Gas. Fueling Tomorrow's Energy Needs.

- Powering the Future
When natural gas is used on-site to produce heat and power – through technologies like combined heat and power (CHP), fuel cells, and other customer-sited solutions – roughly 92% of energy in that fuel reaches the customer.
When the same gas is sent to a utility-scale power plant, converted to electricity, and pushed across the transmission and distribution grid, less than 40% of the original energy makes it to the end user, according to the American Gas Association.
That’s more than twice as efficient — and it’s a key fact UGI continues to help customers understand. On May 15, UGI brought that conversation to life at Powering the Future.
